An 18-year-old student from the small town of Safonovo in Russia's Smolensk Region has been crowned Miss Russia. As well as the coveted title, the beauty wins a tiara worth $1 million – the most valuable in any beauty pageant anywhere in the world.
Elizaveta Golovanova also received a $100,000 grant, enabling her to study at any college on planet.
But first and foremost, throughout the year, she will have to serve as Russia's beauty ambassador at international beauty pageants, such as Miss World and Miss Universe.
Charity work is also set to become part of Elizaveta's daily agenda. The beauty is set to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders without complaint, given that her motto is “Live in such a way to never see shame in your father's eyes and tears in your mother's eyes.”
The brunette beat off 49 other contestants to win the Miss Russia title. In preparation, she burned the midnight oil studying choreography, and taking fitness and catwalk classes.
